All TFVA members may nominate potential candidates for Founders Achievement, Artist Prize, and Project Support awards. Your suggestions will be gratefully received. Have a look at our previous winners on the TFVA website.
Founders Achievement Award
This is given to a person or group who has made a significant contribution over many years to the visual arts in the greater Toronto area. The influence may be local, national, or international, as long as they have been based in Toronto and have contributed “above and beyond” to the visual arts world. Artists, architects, writers, publishers, educators, curators, volunteers, philanthropists, art dealers, arts entrepreneurs, and arts administrators will all be considered.
Please forward suggestions to Jane Perdue, Founders Achievement Chair, jperdue@sympatico.ca
Artist Prize
The Artist Prize Committee searches for candidates who qualify for the three prizes awarded annually. You are encouraged to nominate any contemporary artist. We also ask five respected curators to nominate three artists each. The members of the committee then vet the list, visit the nominated artists and choose the three winners. The criteria for inclusion are:
• the artist’s practice is centred in the GTA
• the artist has produced a body of work
• the artist has an exhibition history in group or solo shows, one of which should be in Toronto
• the artist should be between late-emerging to early mid-career
Please forward the artist’s name and email address to Jen Kerhaghan, Artist Prize Chair, artistprize@tfva.ca
Project Support Award
TFVA’s Project Support provides seed/development money for a broad spectrum of projects demonstrating originality, creativity, and artistic merit. The project will aim to make a significant contribution to the GTA’s visual arts community with the potential to enhance diverse communities.
Please forward suggestions with backup information to Susan Devins, Project Support Chair, devins@sympatico.ca
