Dear Fellow Members,
“Less Sleep, More Art”, Nuit Blanche’s 2019 mantra, resonates with me. There has been a plethora of outstanding opportunities to experience art in our city already this fall. Nuit Blanche, as well as our Project Support winner, The Toronto Biennial, offer Art for All–art for all residents of our city (at no cost). You can engage with all that Toronto’s first art Biennial has to offer by checking out: torontobiennial.org
While online, please note the News on our own website. We keep you in the know by sharing each of our winners’ shows, news, and successes. We are proud of our three prize committees’ diligent research and great track record for choosing winners. We are equally impressed by the ongoing successes of our prize winners.
Your Board has already had a retreat and developed the operational plan for this year. Art for All also serves as our operational plan’s overall focus. We are hoping to offer our members even more educational and tour choices, as well as better access. We have a goal that everyone who wants to attend a private tour will be assured of at least one private tour a year and maybe even one a semester. If a program you sign up for is full, please take advantage of that program’s waitlist. Quite often spots do open up.
There will be increased programming. We have introduced two new program groups: Architecture and Pop Up (organized opportunities that come our way that just need shepherding). We hope that you will answer our call for leadership in these two new areas.
Speaking of leadership, congratulations to the newly appointed CEO of the Ontario Arts Council, Carolyn Vesley. The Ontario Arts Council is the funding body for all of the arts in Ontario. Carolyn, a Visual Artist herself (yippee!), begins her position in January 2020.
And finally, Art for All of us comes in the form of our Programs at a Glance newsletter. It will land in your inbox on Thursday October 31. Be ready to pounce and pARTicipate!
As always, do feel free to be in touch with me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Looking forward to seeing you soon, and often.
