York University Tuan Andrew Nguyen:
When Water Embraces Empty Space
Tour the stunning new Goldfarb Gallery, designed by internationally acclaimed architect, Siamek Hariri, (one of our lecturers on architecture), as well as the Visible Vault Study Centre.
Tuan Andrew Nguyen’s solo exhibition, When Water Embraces Empty Space, will cross two galleries in a comprehensive video and sculptural installation. It is an immersive exhibition that begins with the story of a long wooden Luf boat named after the island of Luf in Papua New Guinea, from where it originates. Nguyen’s videos, art work, and song, guides it on a journey through material space and time, as it floats from New Guinea to Berlin.

MAY GALLERY WALK
Stephen Bulger Gallery
Join us at the Stephen Bulger Gallery,
Canada’s largest gallery of photographs.

Christina Leslie, Pinhole, Portraits and Places
From the Gallery:
“The visual language of Pinhole Places emerged from Leslie’s desire to connect the spontaneity of street photography and focus on the medium of photography itself. Inspired by Uta Barth, whose ethereal work explores perception, light and the act of seeing, Leslie captures spaces in an evocative and unconventional way. Using makeshift pinhole lenses crafted out of materials found at each location, she photographed a variety of places – both iconic and obscure, inviting viewers to reflect on their own sense of familiarity, memory, and perception of place.”
