Our Prize-winners in the News

Public Studio, a collective art practice of Elle Flanders, filmmaker and Tamira Sawatsky, architect, is a TFVA Project Support winner [2019]. The collective often works with other artists.
In This Place, Neyaashiinigmiing, Public Studio, in conjunction with Nyle Miigizi Johnston, Story Teller and Traditional Helper, address a wide range of issues: political, ecological and legal. The Bruce Peninsula’s stunning landscape provides the backdrop for an installation of video, sound and drawings dealing with the ongoing difficulties between the Saugeen Ojibway Nation and the Government of Canada, based on our colonial history and the resulting environmental and social impacts. Utilizing stories of both past and present, the installation explores the on going and necessary work of reconciliation.
