These TFVA prize winning artists are part of the exhibition, Fortitude/Fragile, currently at the OCADU Onsite Gallery. “The artworks in Fortitude/Fragile … underscore the importance of regenerative learning and cultivate an atmosphere steeped in mutual respect and tolerance.” For more information, click here

Sandra Brewster will deliver an artist’s talk at the OCAD University Auditorium on Tuesday, March 4 at 7 pm. This talk is part of the Kim Pruesse Speakers series Art Creates Change. The talk is free and open to the public. For more information, click here
Camille Turner, Artist Prize 2018
Otherworld, Camille Turner’s first major solo museum exhibition, is at the Art Museum at University of Toronto. Turner is widely recognized for her transformative examination of Black history in the Canadian national narrative. The exhibition runs until March 22. Read more here.
Gallery TPW, Project Support 2025
Grounded through a desire for connection and joy, The Celestial Collective is a contemplative journey into the realm of Indigenous identity. Smoke Signals x Reflections will create a welcoming space by Two-Spirit artists through multiple projects. For more information click here.

Erika DeFreitas, Artist Prize 2016
Calgary’s Esker Foundation launched its winter season with a trio of solo exhibitions including Erika DeFreitas’ and that break is the one that shows (to shift, a curve, to quiver). The exhibit closes April 27. Read more here.
John Sasaki, Artist Prize 2009
Trust Fall, a collaboration between John Sasaki and Laura Gildner, is on at the Nanaimo Art Gallery until April 13. Find more information here.
John Sasaki also has an exhibition at the University of Manitoba School of Art Gallery. Homage, curated by Sarah Milroy (Project Support, 2011) and organized and circulated by the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, and a new work commissioned by The University of Manitoba School of Art Gallery, I Contain Multitudes, are on display until April 26. BAND Gallery, Project Support 2024
Curator eunice bélidor’s lecture, Handle with Care – Curatorial Practices After the Pandemic, at the Onsite Gallery at OCADU was co-presented by BAND Gallery. This lecture is Onsite Gallery’s annual Black History Month lecture. Read more here.
