Nuit Blanche and Art Toronto were the two big art events in Toronto in October. Our prize winners were well represented there as well as elsewhere in the city and farther afield.

Camille Turner—Artist Prize 2018
Otherworld at the Art Museum at the University of Toronto is Camille Turner’s first major solo museum exhibition. The exhibition is on until March 22, 2025. Click here for more information

Sameer Farooq – Artist Prize 2022
In The Fairest Order in the World, Sameer Farooq arranges a series of new and recent sculptures and images to present ideas for repurposing the emptied spaces of museums. This exhibition is on until December 20, 2024 at the McMaster Museum of Art in Hamilton. For more information click here
Co-commissioned and co-presented by the Toronto Biennial of Art and the Agnes Etherington Art Centre, the Flatbread Library is a sculptural installation by Sameer Farooq. The work focuses on the political and social significance of the tandoor, a large clay oven used in South Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa, for over ten thousand years. Derek Liddingdon – Artist Prize 2011
Their horizon was mountain, their distance reveals is an exhibition that asks viewers to move slowly and look closely at what lies beneath surfaces. The exhibition at the Maclaren Art Centre in Barrie runs until November 8, 2024. Click here for more information
